GIGI CAFÉ AND SHOP

Gigi Cafe was a pop-up concept coffee shop located in the Mile End section of Montreal. The visual concept for the cafe grew from French New Wave film - borrowing color, type and art direction from the aesthetics of the cinema movement. Illustration was similarly inspired by graphic European pop-poster art.

The custom illustrations developed for the brand were inspired by European mid-century commercial design, and were brought to life in stop-motion style animation. Custom typography was created as a reference to the New Wave film titles that informed the broader identity. Full collateral and packaging were developed for Gigi Cafe - including boxes, bags and various clothing as well as quarterly newspaper publications.
